POLICY ON CHARITABLE DONATIONS FROM SPOKANE COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY (SCMS)

Philanthropic, charitable and special interest donations will not be made by SCMS, but left to our membership as individuals. SCMS may make recommendations to its members of causes deemed meritorious. Therefore, SCMS will not entertain requests for donations.

FOR NON-MEMBER PHYSICIANS

Attending SCMS Committees: Non-members who wish to serve on SCMS Committees may attend meetings for six months (beginning from the time of the first meeting or the first two meetings of the year). After that time, non-members shall either pay SCMS/WSMA dues or discontinue attendance.

Non-members may donate one year’s SCMS/WSMA membership fee to the Foundation in order to continue to serve.

Attending SCMS Meetings: Non-members who wish to attend SCMS meetings must pay two times the registration fee, not to exceed the current SCMS/WSMA dues. If the meeting has no charge, the Executive Director will determine the costs associated with the program and designate the fee.

Inclusion in the SCMS Physicians Pictorial Directory Under a Non-Member Section: Non-members who wish inclusion in the physicians pictorial directory will pay (SCMS or Foundation) a fee equivalent to one year’s SCMS/WSMA dues. Non-members who pay this may also serve on committees as outlined above.

Consulting: Non-members who wish to consult with SCMS Board and/or staff for any purpose shall pay a fee of $100.00 per hour (there will be a minimum one hour charge).

*These policies and procedures are subject to change from time to time by the SCMS BOT

**All Physician Non-members shall receive a letter after their first meeting outlining the SCMS policy.

POLICY ON ASSISTING OUTSIDE ORGANIZATIONS RAISE FUNDS FROM SPOKANE COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY FOUNDATION (SCMSF) MEMBERS

SCMSF may from time to time agree to assist organizations in their attempts to raise money from our members. It is our desire to recover the costs of fundraising from those we choose to assist and thus not incur expenses to the foundation.

The Board of the SCMSF may at its discretion refuse a request for assisting with a solicitation.

SCMSF administrative rules are as follows:

  1. If SCMSF conducts mailings or in any other way incurs costs associated with soliciting SCMS members those costs must be reimbursed prior to final distribution of funds.
  2. SCMSF charges an administrative handling fee of 10% of all monies it collects on behalf of the charity. SCMSF may elect to waive or refund administrative fees.
  3. SCMSF makes neither assurances regarding the potential for raising money from physicians nor would we ever guarantee any specific dollar amount.
