About Project Access: Overview
Project Access is a regional network of physicians and hospitals collaborating to provide specialty-level, universal, on-demand health care access for medically underserved citizens living at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. With more than 80% of Spokane physicians pledging support of Project Access outreach, it is the care and dedication of our physician and health care volunteers that make this goal possible.
Since its inception in 2003, Project Access has:
  • Provided over $29 million in charity care to Project Access patients.
  • Served over 3,500 patients.
  • Provided over $411,477 in prescription medications with grants from municipal jurisdiction and Spokane County.
  • Donated complex care free of charge to patients in need.
  • Provided $7.25 in direct medical care for patients for each $1 invested in the program.
Physicians who donate their time and talents allow Project Access to be successful and serve our patients. Nearly 80% of Spokane physicians pledge their support to Project Access. We look forward to continuing to work with the local medical community to sustain this program.
Project Access coordinates service donated from physicians, increasing efficiency at the physician’s practice by reducing repeat patients and aggregating charity care. These donated services include:
  • Physician office visits
  • Surgeries and treatments (both inpatient and outpatient)
  • Laboratory and radiology services
  • Hospital care
  • Durable medical equipment (such as wheelchairs and crutches)
  • Interpretation services
  • Transportation to patient appointments
  • Low-cost prescription medications.
